The Black Bear No. 1 and No. 4 Surface Mines are located in Virginia and were mined by one of our predecessor's subsidiary companies but were reclaimed primarily by Alpha. These sites were reclaimed using the Forestry Reclamation Approach which includes reforestation with native species. Natural Stream Restoration techniques were utlized on both of these mine sites. Both sites have won multiple state, regional national awards for the exceptional mined land restoration efforts.
