These days, covering the bills can be a challenge. Especially when living on a fixed income. That's why Alpha is proud to support Mountain Empire Older Citizen's Fuel Assistance Program, providing help to families who don't have the funds to heat and cool their homes.
Mountain Empire Older Citizens Inc. (MEOC) does a lot more than just provide help on utility bills to families on fixed incomes. MEOC was organized in 1974 as the area's primary agency on aging and the main public transit provider for Wise, Lee and Scott counties and the city of Norton in the southwestern tip of Virginia.
Through the years, it has grown to direct Healthy Families for Southwest Virginia, The Mountain Laurel Cancer Resource and Support Center, and The Southwest Virginia Children's Advocacy Center. MEOC also provides management services to The Junction Center For Independent Living Services.
