With almost five decades of service, the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center has served over 120,000 4-H youth and more than 600,000 individuals representing businesses, organizations, and family groups.

This ACA accredited, non-profit facility serves 13 Southwest Virginia counties. Each summer, youth from these counties are afforded the opportunity to attend the Jr. Summer Camping Program. This is the largest and most well-known program the 4-H Center offers and is the main reason the Center was created. However, it is not the only program the Center offers. As a year-round full service facility, the 4-H Center offers programs throughout the year giving youth the opportunity to explore science, technology, agriculture, textiles, and many other topics. These programs are not only educational but fun!
Alpha Resources recognizes the important role that these educational programs play in encouraging and developing young leaders in Southwest Virginia. With the support and encouragement from Alpha Natural Resources, youth who might not otherwise be able to attend some of our programs have that opportunity. The Center hopes to be able to expand its facilities by building new boys' dorms that can be used year-round, thus expanding the opportunities or our youth here in Southwest Virginia.
