Phil Cavatoni has been Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Alpha Natural Resources since August 2009. Prior to the merger with Foundation Coal in 2009, he served as Alpha's Treasurer and Executive Vice President - Finance and Strategy from February 2009 through July 2009. Before joining Alpha, Phil held various positions at J.P. Morgan since 1991. He last served as Managing Director and Head of the firm’s Basic Materials practice, where he was responsible for management of client relationships, advisory and financing transactions and the strategic allocation of capital across the sector. Mr. Cavatoni was also responsible for J.P. Morgan’s Midwest Mergers & Acquisitions practice. Mr. Cavatoni earned his B.S. from Drexel University in 1986 and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. Cavatoni serves on the Virginia Highlands Community College Foundation Board and the Drexel University President’s Leadership Council.
