Glenn A. Eisenberg (49) was appointed to our board of directors in 2005 and has served as chairman of our audit committee and as a member of our nominating and corporate governance committee since that time. Mr. Eisenberg currently serves as executive vice president, finance and administration of The Timken Company, a diversified industrial manufacturer of innovative materials, products and services providing friction management and power transmission solutions for any kind of mechanical application. Prior to joining The Timken Company in 2002, Mr. Eisenberg served as president and chief operating officer of United Dominion Industries, a manufacturer of proprietary engineered products, from 1999 to 2001, and as the president — test instrumentation segment and executive vice president for United Dominion Industries from 1998 to 1999.
Mr. Eisenberg has also served as a director and chairman of the audit committee of Family Dollar Stores, Inc., owners and operators of discount stores, since November 2002 and January 2003, respectively.
Qualifications: Through his employment with The Timken Company, a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar company, and his service in other senior executive capacities, Mr. Eisenberg has developed expertise in risk management, financial reporting and accounting, compensation matters, government relations, global/M&A transactions, and environmental, health, and safety, attributes which are critical to our business. Mr. Eisenberg’s financial expertise and knowledge of financial reporting processes and procedures has been further enhanced through his role as Alpha’s audit committee chairman, and his role as audit committee chairman of the Family Dollar Stores. He is also one of our “audit committee financial experts.” In addition, his service on Alpha’s nominating and corporate governance committee has added significant corporate governance expertise to our board.
