SAFETY PROCESS

Alpha is dedicated to achieving a total health and safety culture through an employee-driven behavioral based approach utilizing open communication among all levels of the company.  Our Running Right safety program is founded upon behavior based safety and empowers all Alpha employees to champion the safety process.

Every person is accountable for his or her own safety and the safety of those around them and every person is expected to identify hazards and initiate corrective actions. Reporting is anonymous, allowing hazards to be confronted and dealt with immediately. All levels of the organization must be proactive in implementing safety processes that promote a safe and healthy work environment.

The core elements of behavior based safety include identification of critical behaviors, frequency of those behaviors, employee feedback, and removal of barriers for continuous improvement.

"The people here care about  your safety; they believe in safety, preach safety every day and always give us a safety talk our first day back. They believe in the Running Right philosophy."

                                            -Leroy Robinson

                                       (Shuttle Car Operator)

"This company believes in Running Right. Safety is #1. I have had my bossing papers over 20 years, but have only bossed the last three years. I would not boss anywhere else. Alpha lets me do things right as a foreman. I have worked for four different coal companies and this is the best place that I have workded! I would not want to go back."

                                                 -Marty Whittaker

                                                (Section Foreman)

"Safety is top notch here-the best I have been around in my 30-plus years of mining. If something is wrong, they fix it. If you need something to be safe, they will get it for you."

                -Denver "Shug" Hall

                 (Belt Mine Examiner)
